Call for Articles

Let's hear from you. If the articles in PIP aren't what you want, it's because someone hasn't written them. You can help, by writing about subjects that interest you. Or, here are some subjects I'd like to hear about:

  1. Your favorite utility program for MS-DOS. Write a short article about it. What does it do? What makes it better than other solutions that you know about?

  2. What you've done to your Ozzie to make it better than Adam's. There are lots of things our Ozzies can still do, and lots of ways to get over the limitations of the little screen, 52 column display, small disk capacity, slow I/O, etc. How do we keep those machines alive? Have you added ROMBO? Put in double-sided drives? Implemented ZCPR3? Is it a commercially available product, or home brew? Would you be interested in or willing to help others do it, or do it for them? There must be some of you who have done something that we haven't heard about. Write it up.

  3. Bradford, version 2, is out. Someone with an MS-DOS or CP/M machine and an Epson or Star Gemini printer ought to do a review. It's loaded with features.

Maybe you have something else you could write about. PIP always needs articles, especially by CFOGGers! Send disk copy (any 48 tpi CP/M format or MS-DOS 2.x, but label the disk as to what format it is!) to PIP, Box 1678, Chicago 60690 or upload to CFOG II (use the command:

KMD RP <filename.typ><cr>

for a 'private' upload. Please leave a message for Benjamin Cohen telling the name of the file).

Downtown Meetings

The next downtown meeting will be held on June 9, 1988. We get only a few members at our downtown meetings. They are on the second Thursday of each month at 6:00 p.m. at 55 West Monroe Street, #2400. Pizza from Edwardo's is served [$6.50] for those who don't have a chance to go home and eat first.

The downtown meetings do not normally have a planned program. We try to deal with as many individual problems as we can on a personal level. There are several Osborne and Kaypro CP/M systems in the office where the meetings are held, and a Kaypro 16 MS-DOS system, so it's not necessary to bring a computer for disk copying. Both MS-DOS and CP/M libraries are available.
